Your Mission

The Software Development Manager reports into the Director Development and is responsible for the managing the delivery of multiple software delivery streams within the Lab.

The Lab provides a Product/Engineering capability developing and supporting various R&D products and initiatives.

The current focus of the teams is predominantly on Crypto Currency and Blockchain development.

The position will be responsible for managing software delivery in terms of quality, delivery schedule, risk mitigation, resourcing planning and overall productivity within the Lab development teams. This role requires a candidate that is capable of planning, executing and managing all aspects of the SDLC across multiple multi-disciplined teams.

What you’ll do

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to the engineering teams ensuring delivery of the Product Roadmap.
  • Define and execute engineering plans, manage scheduling and resource allocation ensuring alignment to business priorities and architectural strategy.
  • Balance delivery against technical and process improvements allowing for agility and predictability.
  • Manage hiring, retention and career development of the Crypto engineering teams ensuring a consistently high-performing well-balanced talent pool is maintained.
  • Represent the engineering teams to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Pro-actively drive and enforce the SDLC process, establishing process and procedures for handling change.
  • Identify and develop mitigation/contingency plans and facilitate the risk management process.
  • Work with the team to define standards and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Enforce governance standards and provide continuous improvement feedback to governance bodies.
  • Coach and mentor employees through example, advice and correction; help them to expand their capacity and the capacity of their teams.
  • Work with current and external partners to ensure deliverables are defined and delivered successfully.
  • Drive the roll-out and ensure progress of OKRs is maintained.

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a technical area such as Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent experience 
  • Proven experience of working within a product-driven software development environment in a leadership role. Including staff management experience.
  • Pragmatic/common sense approach to enterprise software development, process and best practices.
  • Experience in software design, web application development and project management.
  • Experience with Agile software development processes and implementing it within teams.
  • Experience and in-depth knowledge of FinTech including Crypto Currency or Blockchain Technologies is a plus but not essential.
  • Demonstrate ability to motivate a team to achieve the defined vision and product objectives while balancing business priorities through collaboration with senior stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in developing an autonomous development team.
  • Proven ability to initiate, recognize, and manage change.
  • Results oriented with a proven track record of delivering on time and on budget.
  • Demonstrated creative problem-solving, resource allocation and sourcing, long-term planning, and development of project management processes and systems, especially Agile.
  • A passion for software development processes, methodologies and technologies.
  • Ability to work autonomously in an occasionally high-pressure environment.
  • Exceptional communication (oral/written) and presentation skills.
  • Ability to learn and keep technically current with industry approaches, frameworks, and paradigms, including self-learning and company sponsored improvement.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate and influence others.
